The mother of two, also known as Bowel Babe, was known for documenting her life under treatment for her illness, having a blog and an Instagram page along with the popular You, Me and the Big C podcast for the BBC. Announcing her death on Instagram, James’s family said: “We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Dabora James. the most amazing wife, daughter, sister, mummy. “Deborah died peacefully today, surrounded by her family.” It was “inspiration and we are incredibly proud of her and her work,” they said. They said that James’s last words to the public were: “Find a life worth enjoying. do I take risks? love deeply; Do I have no regrets? and always, always have revolutionary hope. Genevieve Edwards, CEO of Bowel Cancer UK, said: “We are really grateful to have met Deborah and called her our friend. “She was a strong advocate for bowel cancer in the United Kingdom and left an amazing legacy through her BowelBabe Fund, a testament to the love and admiration that so many had for her.” He added: “She turned the diagnosis of bowel cancer into an incredible force for good and through her tireless campaign to raise awareness of the symptoms of bowel cancer, she will have saved countless lives.” In the weeks leading up to her death, James was honored with a title. Downing Street said: “The Queen is pleased to approve the award of Damehood to Deborah James.” Boris Johnson paid tribute to James, saying: “If it ever deserved a price, it’s worth it. Deborah was an inspiration and her honesty, warmth and courage were a source of strength to so many people. James responded to Daula and said that he “laughed and cried”. The presenter spent her last days caring at her parents’ house, surrounded by her family. She was first diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer in 2016 at the age of 35. The educator who became a campaigner has worked tirelessly for the past six years to raise awareness of bowel disease and cancer at a young age. He ran marathons, organized a charity ball and was named the protector of bowel cancer in the UK in 2021. She started presenting her podcast with Lauren Mahon and Rachael Bland in 2018. Bland, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, died six months after the show began, at the age of 40. In May, James announced that she was receiving care at the end of her life and that she was leaving public life.
