Crowds of travelers for the July 4th weekend were stranded outside New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday amid a search for an unattended bag, Fox News Digital reported. A spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey told Fox News Digital by phone that no evacuation was ordered, but people were “moved” from departures to arrivals at Terminal 4 amid an “unattended bag” investigation. The official Twitter page for Kennedy Airport later announced at 12:21 p.m. that “a security incident was previously neutralized.” “Roads on the arrivals and departures level at Terminal 4 have reopened,” the tweet said. “Please expect residual traffic delays and allow additional travel time.” LOS ANGELES AIRPORT PARTIALLY CLOSED AS POLICE INVESTIGATE ‘SUSPICIVE VEHICLE’ The Port Authority spokesman said the bomb squad entered and cleared the bag, which was found to be free of explosives and was removed from the terminal. The terminal reopened to normal operation and the roads reopened. About 200 people had been evacuated, but the entire terminal was not evacuated, the spokesman added. He had no information on whether there were any problems with flights. The incident lasted about an hour. Videos online showed large crowds of people with their suitcases and other bags outside the terminal. Another video shows armored vehicles arriving at the scene. The spokesman previously stressed that resources had been deployed to deal with any potential threat, but that did not necessarily mean there was a bomb. The official Twitter page for Kennedy Airport earlier acknowledged a “security incident” at Terminal 4, saying the arrival and departure levels remain closed to inbound traffic. “Please expect traffic delays and allow extra travel time,” the account tweeted.
