Pierce Corbyn has fought against vaccines, face masks and COVID restrictions throughout the pandemic. The 75-year-old was found guilty of conducting or helping to organize a rally of more than 30 people in Trafalgar Square in August 2020. Another illegal gathering that violated COVID rules took place in the same place in September 2020 and in Westminster a month later. He has now been fined 750 750 for these three offenses – and has also been ordered to pay 5 275 in court costs and 9 109 in surcharges. At the time, regulations stated that no one could gather outdoors in groups of six or more unless certain exceptions were made. The other protesters Louise Creffield and Vincent Dunmall were found guilty of the same crimes. Crawfield, a 36-year-old from Brighton, was fined 250 250 for all three appointments and also had to pay 50 50 in court costs and £ 34 in surcharges. Dunmall, a 55-year-old from Orpington, was sentenced to pay a 17 175 fine, along with 75 75 in court costs and £ 34 in surcharges. According to the Metropolitan Police, Corbyn also took part in a fourth rally that violated current restrictions – on the South Bank in central London on 31 December 2020. However, no fines were imposed in connection with this incident. Detective Inspector Chris Rudd said: “It was unfortunate that we had to deal with these incidents where large numbers of people gathered illegally in violation of COVID regulations during a national emergency. “At a time when so many members of the public made significant sacrifices and adhered to the rules to keep others safe, these individuals acted selfishly and risked spreading the virus.” Last November, Corbin participated in a video comparing the use of a mask on public transport to “trying to keep a fart in your pants.”
