Chris Pinscher said he drank “too much” and “embarrassed myself and other people” on a night out. The conservative Tamworth MP sent a letter to the prime minister explaining his decision to resign. In his letter he said: “Last night I was very mild. “I am ashamed of myself and other people, which is the last thing I want to do, and I apologize to you and those concerned. “I think the right thing to do under the circumstances is to resign from the post of whip leader. “I owe it to you and to the people I have upset to do this.” Mr Pincher added: “I want to assure you that you will continue to have my full support from behind the counter and I wish you all the best as you face the COVID aftershocks and the challenges of international inflation. “It was an honor of my life to serve in the Government of His Majesty.” Image: MP Pincher has been an MP since 2010 Chris Pinscher has been an MP since the 2010 general election, when the Conservatives formed a coalition with the Liberal Democrats. Prior to becoming Deputy Chief of Staff, he was Minister of State for Europe and America and Minister of State for Housing. He also writes a column for alcoholic beverages for The Critic magazine. A recent one was titled: “Fall into the trap of jeans”. The Tories are not the only party complaining about complaints at the moment. Earlier this month, it emerged that SNP MP Patrick Grady was facing a suspension from the House of Commons following an allegation of sexual harassment that was confirmed after a parliamentary inquiry. An independent panel of experts has proposed that Mr Grady be barred from Parliament for two days for having an “unwanted sexual assault” on a party staff member at a professional social event at a pub in 2016. Mr Grady was also instructed to apologize publicly in the Chamber and to apologize privately to the person complaining. The leader of the SNP in Westminster, Ian Blackford, has faced calls to resign over the same issue.
