Garland’s deal is the richest in Cavaliers history and comes after a third season in which he averaged 21.7 points and 8.6 assists per game, was named an All-Star for the first time and lifted the franchise to the tournament play- in the Eastern Region. He is one of the cornerstones of a promising Cavaliers core that includes All-Star center Jarrett Allen and rising star Evan Mobley.

Garland qualifies for the supermax if he plays on one of the NBA’s first, second or third teams twice. The fifth overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft, Garland helped the Cavaliers finish above .500 for the first time since LeBron James left in 2018.
