Sterling has been a star player for the Citizens since turning his back on Liverpool to join the club in 2015 and has helped his side win four Premier League titles, five League Cups and an FA Cup. But he is no longer a guaranteed starter at the Etihad Stadium and has often been left out of Pep Guardiola’s squad in the last matchday. Sterling was only able to make the bench for both legs of City’s Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid last season as the Citizens were knocked out after a late comeback by the Spaniards in the second leg. And the 27-year-old was also left out of City’s squad for the Premier League clash against Aston Villa on the final day of the campaign. With Phil Foden now ahead of Sterling at City, the former Anfield favorite could see even fewer minutes next season if he stays where he is. And, according to CBS Sports Golazo, there is now confidence from Chelsea and City that a deal will be reached. JUSTIN: William Saliba’s ‘leaked’ Arsenal shirt number gives huge hint at team-mate’s future Chelsea endured a difficult campaign last time out as they faced an uncertain future after their Russian oligarch owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned in the wake of his country’s invasion of Ukraine. And they also had their struggles on the pitch as they struggled in front of goal at key moments following Romelu Lukaku’s failure following his return to the club. The club has now been sold to Todd Boehly, while Lukaku has been allowed to return to Inter Milan.
