It is common for children in criminal cases not to be named, but a judge at Cardiff Crown Court has decided to lift an anonymity order in this case. Earlier, Mulligan, along with Logan’s mother and father-in-law, was sentenced to life in prison. The teenager, who was 13 when he was involved in the murder, has been described as a “monster” who repeatedly made threats to kill Logan. In court appearances, a foster family said he had made their lives “living hell” and “scared” him. Over the course of a few weeks with them he made repeated threats to kill them – as well as injuring their daughter, foster mother and dog, they said. Concerns were heightened when he asked two young girls if they wanted to play a “killing game” and told them they should get into black bucket bags. While he apparently spoke lovingly of his father, stepmother and younger brother, they said he wanted to “kill the five-year-old” (Logan). Mulligan was a “monster” who had a “desire for violence,” they told the court. Ms Justice Jefford is revoking an order under Section 45 of the Juvenile Justice Criminal Evidence Act to allow the young man public recognition. “I came to the conclusion, having considered the remarks this morning, that I should lift the reporting limitation on this issue,” he said. At a Cardiff Crown Court trial, he was heard to have suffered 56 external cuts and bruises as well as “catastrophic” internal injuries. He was wearing mismatched pajamas and is said to have been “violently and constantly attacked”. Logan’s injuries were described similarly to victims of high-speed accidents or people who had fallen from a height. Angharad Williamson’s mother, 31, has been told she will spend at least 28 years behind bars, while her 40-year-old partner John Cole will spend at least 29 years. Mulligan will be held for at least 15 years. Picture: Logan Mwangi’s body was hidden in a river Condemning the sentence, Justice Jefford described Logan’s hiding in the river as “heartless”, “calculated and orchestrated”. The judge said: “You are responsible for Logan’s death and for all the agony that followed. “Because he was killed in his own house, we can not be sure what happened to him.” The judge said Logan was only 3 feet 5 inches tall before his death – and weighed only 3 pounds. “To inflict these injuries on a small, defenseless five-year-old is nothing short of horrible,” he said.
