Since Tuesday afternoon, police continue to ask people in the North Dairy Road area to Cedar Hill Cross Road, and between Richmond Road to Cedar Hill Cross Road, resorting to them as heavily armed police are looking for a possible third suspect.
Nearby homes and businesses were also evacuated due to concerns about a possible explosive device inside a car linked to one of the suspects.
Police say they are waiting for a team from the mainland BC to arrive to assess the possible explosive.
Several officers from Saanich Police, VicPD and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT) responded to a report of armed suspects at a bank at 3600 Shelbourne Street around 11 a.m. PDT.
When police arrived, the two armed suspects started firing at police, according to a joint statement from Saanich and Victoria police stations.
“Two suspects were shot by police and died on the spot,” police said.
No members of the public, including bank employees or customers, are believed to have been injured in the incident, police said.
Three of the six officers shot were members of the Sanic Police Department, while the other three were members of the Victoria Police Department.
“At the moment we expect some police officers to be released after emergency treatment, while other police officers suffered very serious injuries and were taken to the operating room,” said Sanic police chief Const. Dean Duthie in a live press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
“We will provide you with further information on the situation of all officers as best we can,” he said.
“We keep their families informed and do everything we can to support them, as well as all our staff.”
The police chief says Tuesday’s shooting was the most violent incident he can remember happening in the community in his nearly 27 years of service.

‘I RUN FOR MY LIFE’#
Witness Brenda Boyd told CTV News that she was walking near the intersection of Shelbourne and Pear streets when she heard at least 25 to 50 gunshots and saw smoke outside the Bank of Montreal around 11:30 p.m.

“Again, the officers were injured because they did what they signed, to protect the public, to respond to danger, to keep people safe.”
Duthie said the Saanich police department and law enforcement partners in neighboring jurisdictions are still ready to respond to any other calls for service and that the agency is trying to support everyone involved.
The Office of Independent Investigations of the K.K.E. has been informed of the incident and has launched his own investigation.
