Ontario police are investigating the fact that Ottawa police officers shot and killed a man and injured a woman while answering a 911 call. According to the Special Investigation Unit, Ottawa police received the 911 call around 10:30 p.m. Monday, indicating that someone had been stabbed. Screams were heard in the background. When police arrived on Anoka Street, near Bank Street and Heron Road, they saw a man stabbing a woman, SIU said. “When the man did not obey orders to drop the knife, three police officers dropped their firearms. “The man was beaten and his death was confirmed at the scene,” SIU said. “The woman was also hit by police fire. “She was taken to hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.” Police later found the bodies of two other women who had been stabbed to death. None of those involved have been identified. The SIU reports that two investigators and two medical examiners have been assigned to the case and are in the process of verifying their identities. “At the moment, three officials and six official witnesses have been appointed. “The autopsy for the man is scheduled for tomorrow,” the SIU said. Witnesses are invited to come either by calling 1-800-787-8529 or by filling out an online form. The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates police conduct that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and / or shooting a person.
