People across the UK have faced months of travel chaos at airports this year, with plenty of delays, cancellations and luggage being lost or stuck in huge piles due to staff shortages. To add to the disruption, British Airways has reportedly canceled more than 650 flights from London Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport. This means more than 76,000 seats will be removed from Heathrow flights, as well as another 29,400 from Gatwick flights. The move is to be exempted from the usual rules that mean airlines can cancel flights without being penalized for not using their airport slot in a one-off “amnesty” from ministers. This amnesty is due to expire on Friday 8 July 2022. However, this means that hundreds of thousands of passengers will have their summer holiday plans messed up if they book with British Airways.

A BA spokesman said: “As the entire airline industry continues to face the most difficult period in its history, it has unfortunately become necessary to make some further reductions. “We are in contact with customers to apologize and offer to rebook them or issue a full refund.” Here is the full list of flights and destinations to be affected by the cancellations.
