Issues with airline services are starting to multiply as the summer season begins to ramp up, and one airline advocate believes there is some “rough turbulence” for travellers. There’s a build-up in travel demand after more than two years of pandemic-related restrictions, and that’s compounded by things like flight cancellations, passport problems and baggage delays. Woody French is the former mayor of CBS and had done a lot of work with the Air Passenger Bill of Rights. French says he was in Toronto a while ago and saw the chaos of the airport firsthand. He says police were called to the airport five times on a Saturday because of problems between passengers and staff. French has some advice for anyone traveling this season who is struggling. He says not to fight with airport staff, instead keep a record of the date and time of the interaction. Try to resolve the issue at the airline level, if that doesn’t work, contact Transport Canada. He also says people should keep their MP informed.
