The unidentified woman was pushing a stroller on Lexington Avenue and East 95th Street around 8:25 p.m. when a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt came from behind and shot her in the head, New York’s WABC station reported ABC News. A stranger approached her and shot her at close range, according to police. The suspect immediately fled on foot, traveling east along East 95th Street, according to the NYPD. He was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt and trousers in all black. The NYPD responded to the scene and met a female victim who was unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to the head. The woman was taken to the Metropolitan Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 9:20 p.m., according to police. Police said the baby was unharmed, WABC reported.
