Lance Storz was arrested after a long confrontation in the Allen community outside the US 23. Floyd County Sheriff’s Department says lawmakers were trying to order domestic violence at Storz’s home Thursday night, around 6 p.m., when fire broke out. Many services, including the Kentucky State Police, were called in for support. An arrest report states that eight people were shot at the time Storz was arrested around 10pm Seven of those shot were officers. Two of these officers died. The eighth victim was the director of emergency management. The arrest report says a police dog was shot and killed. Storz is charged with murder of a police officer, attempted murder of a police officer, attempted murder and assault on a service animal. Gov. Andy Beshear posted a message about the situation Thursday night, urging Kentucky residents to pray for the families involved. Law enforcement agencies across Kentucky share messages of support for the first to respond to the shooting. KSP postpones the celebration of the 74th birthday and the unveiling of the mascot, which was originally scheduled to take place on Friday. No new date has been announced so far.
