Six tickets were issued for highway surcharge and one ticket for “highway littering”. Three tickets were issued for unauthorized use of fireworks. Three food trucks had been ticketed for not having a license since Saturday. Some bylaw fines, such as those for unusual noise, shouting and idling, were increased to $1,000 “to ensure a safe and respectful Canada Day,” the agency said on Twitter ahead of the holiday. Reminder: The motor vehicle control zone in downtown Ottawa remains in effect until at least Monday. The majority of the zone is bordered by Laurier Avenue, Booth Street, Wellington Street and the streets surrounding the ByWard Market and the Rideau Center area.
