Ottawa police say they were called to a home on Anoka Street near Grasmere Crescent, just south of Heron Road, at about 10:30 p.m. for “reports of a knife with many casualties.” Two people were found dead and a third were taken to hospital with “multiple serious stab wounds,” police said in a press release Tuesday morning. The third victim of stabbing was in serious condition with injuries that were not considered life-threatening when they arrived at the hospital, according to paramedic spokesman Marc-Antoine Deschamps. Police said on Tuesday that the victim remained in hospital. A fourth person died in the ensuing interaction with Ottawa police. The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has therefore invoked its mandate and is conducting an investigation. SIU has not yet released details. The independent service is investigating deaths by police officers, as well as serious injuries, police officers shooting at someone with a gun and allegations of sexual assault. Deschamps of the paramedical service called the scene “complex.” The area is located about six kilometers south of Parliament Hill.
