The Biden government banned the import of Russian gold to the United States on Tuesday as part of a wave of further sanctions by the United States and its allies over Vladimir Putin’s continued invasion of Ukraine. Using a functional MRI scan where patients inhale foreign gas, researchers can see in real time what is going on inside the lungs. Preliminary results show that the symptoms are related to tiny abnormalities that affect the way oxygen is exchanged from the lungs to the red blood cells. Having participants inhale the gas during the MRI scan allowed the researchers to see how the 500 million airbags in the lungs supply oxygen to the blood....

Buffer Insurance condemned the response of “secular” companies to the end of Roe v. Wade, pledging instead to support female workers who become pregnant and even cover the cost of childbirth. Cedar Rapids’ David and Sabrina Jaramillo and three of their children, David Jaramillo Jr., August Jaramillo and Nyla Pettie, have filed a lawsuit against Aventureland Park in the Altoona suburb of Des Moines. He and 11-year-old Michael Jaramillo were on a Raging River walk in the park on July 3, 2021, when the raft carrying all six family members capsized, trapping them underwater. Michael Jaramillo drowned and other family members were injured....

Extreme heat in much of Europe has broken June record temperatures from the Arctic Circle to North Africa. The fierce heatwave has caused temperatures to rise well above the June average in many countries, in some cases up to 20 degrees. Norway recorded a temperature of 32.5 degrees Celsius in Banak on Wednesday, reportedly the highest temperature ever recorded in the Arctic Circle in Europe, and significantly higher than the June 13 average of 13 degrees Celsius....
